Of course it doesn't solve the problem of absolute origin, but meh. Also, if you make conservative estimates about the rate of increase in computer power and the number of alien species as predicted by the Drake equation it turns out that it's not only possibly but probable that we're actually just constructs in a software simulation (zomg matrix.)
