We'd go out to a clearing a few blocks away from her house and lay in a damp pile of dead leaves together. She'd smile and tell me this is her favorite spot because it makes her feel like she isn't drowning in a sea of lifeless concrete and then she'd scoop up a handful of leaves, giggle and playfully throw them at me. I'd laugh and do the same, and we'd stay there as the sun went down, falling asleep next to each other.
