that was an unusually large snow event in one of western civilization's major population centers. one of us happened to be the person in charge of putting together a collection of "reader submitted" photos from which the layout editor was to select one for the front page of this population center's leading newspaper, the theme was to be families or children enjoying the rare event. all of the photos submitted to the layout editor were shit, except one. the winning photo was seen the next morning probably by millions and hopefully by her. there was also an ad in the personals to "front page girl" - a confession of undying love and a phone number - which apparently went overlooked by the target audience. that is how this rare made it's public debut. the photo was recognized by some of us from it's original source, but nobody significant seems to have seen the ad. this wasn't such a disappointment, we were just happy to do something nice for her, to put a beautiful old photo of her on public display in a polite manner. maybe she didn't notice, but we hope she enjoyed it.
