I'd concur with the second sentence of this post and admit that anonymity is a counsel of prudence on a board like this.
But it's actually pretty much the opposite of a "virtue" in the true etymological sense of the term, since "virtue" is derived from "vir" and used to connote - before its appropriation by the slave morality of Christianity - "strength", "forthrightness", "courage" and all the traditionally manly qualities and achievements.
For all the specious burbling about "group minds", however, /b/board-style "anonymity" proves itself, in actual practice, to be in the overwhelming number of cases an irresistibly tempting refuge for spineless bullying cowards, who can use it to snipe, spit and persecute without having to worry about being spat back at, at least individually, themselves.
So whatever anyone's reasons - good or bad, selfless or narcissistically self-involved - for exposing themselves as a living, individual, criticizable and attack-able person in a milieu like this, I applaud the action.
Anything that makes one a quarry for a pack of belly-crawling dogs like the users of this board has, necessarily, its small part of heroism and nobility.
