As I say, this is completely pointless.
It's clear, I think, to anyone of intelligence and good will that the allusion I made to Wagner in my first post on this thread was not made to show off.
It really was just the first thing that occurred to me, as I listen to "The Valkyrie" almost daily, finding it as I do a great comfort and inspiration in my life.
As I just said, though, people like yourself, with no actual lived relation to culture, will always fly into a frenzy of "let's see who's better than who!" as soon as anything "high-falutin'" is mentioned.
This happens EVERY TIME I mention opera on here. Someone - probably always the same guy - feels his "territory" has been stepped on and the whole thing becomes some ridiculous shouting-match about "who the hero is", "what it really means" and other such infantile, reductivist pseudo-questions.
I really don't give a shit about competing against you in the "Wagner round" of some infantile quiz show.
I quoted him because I love him.
Make of that what you will.
