I agree. I miss the early internet. Maybe it's just me but I remember it was filled with more optimistic people and it seemed mostly filled with technology, X-Files, cyberpunk, etc kind of sites. Now it seems too politicized, commercialized and homogenized like everything that gets popular, and that's everything I tried to escape from on the internet. Maybe it's because I'm older and when you're younger, every small injustice seems to call for a revolution, now I just don't give a fuck. I guess because I know how to protect my queen if someone moves their piece to put her in jeopardy. When you're young you're hypervigilant and unsure so you always feel a few moves away from a checkmate.
Of course that doesn't explain the recent resurgence of this matriarchy/patriarchy bullshit if it's people my age crying about it. I'm 28 and I thought society was done with this boy vs girl bullshit when I was in kindergarten.
