The sole purpose of humanity is to preserve and secure our own existence.

Millions of years of evolution, civilization, this is still the breadth of our knowledge. Someone please tell me the fucking point.

Nobody knows, or at any rate nobody can supply hard evidence for their theory. Improving yourself / other people's lives seems to be about as meaningful as it gets. Such actions can be seen in Darwinistic terms as well of course, but might eventually let us transcend being stupid animals squabbling over resources.

Trascend to what? Our design, the way we are, includes those animal aspects, or rather is centred around them.

Is a star alive? Whats the purpose of burning up for a star?
It's only doing what a bunch of physical/chemical rules tell it to do.
There's no point in being human/alive. It's just a logical train.
If an organism wants to die, it won't procreate, evolve.
If an organism doesn't want to die, it successors will evolve and be better.
If an organism doesn't want to procreate, then its kind dies off.
etc etc. So what we have now, is a bunch of wildly fucking around, dying, not wanting to die, who want to survive and manage to do it.
There's no end point. There's just a start, and million years of logical evolution.
The only difference with animals, a burning star, a falling apple is that we suddenly got smart enough to ask ourselves why are we grazing, why are we burning, why are we falling?

Nothing like intelligence has ever occurred during earth's life's evolution. It's completely new and its effects and influence on evolution are yet to be discovered. The difference is gigantic, so you can't generalise and say we're plain evolving/procreating/dying creatures, only asking why while we're at it.

I used to live on the edge of sanity. There seemed to be mysteries and life was exciting. If I stared at a mirror long enough I was sure my reflection would move. Then I fell. The farside scared me at first, then it was like a horror movie monster. The longer you watch the easier it is to see the zipper. After awhile it all becomes montonous.

BTW I never jumped, someone pushed.
