This is WITHOUT A DOUBT the most incredible bit of ROM Hacking I have ever seen, no matter what the platform. Whoever made this is a certified genius.

Absolutely amazing. See how many Anime/Video Game tunes you can pick out, Idorts. Mega Man 2 & Final Fantasy are in there for sure.

Just as mind blowing as when I first saw it. Is the player playing it or just letting it sit?

I've loved this for ages. Ridiculous amount of work must have been put into it.

That's the impressive thing about it -- there's no input at all. Forward momentum is given primarily by conveyor belts, and jumps are done primarily by touching bouncy blocks (of which there are several types, not just the music blocks). There's some creative physics abuse in the level design, but nothing that indicates any controller input was ever given. Sometimes it looks like Mario is actually running due to the spread arms, but that happens automatically at a certain speed, even if it's just the result of being bounced / shoved around.

Great news idorts! I managed to find the .IPS file for this hack. Patched up the ROM and gave it a try (it definitely works on ZSNES).

DO NOT TOUCH the controls after you begin a stage or it will fuck up. For some reason, it doesn't always work, and Mario dies unexpectedly during a stage. There is more than one stage, BTW. Not sure what songs they are supposed to emulate.

Enjoy! Good luck trying to start the Nico Nico tune at the exact proper time while the game is running.

Bump as I shouldn't have saged that.

Nice find. I'm guessing I need a Japanese Super Mario World ROM for that, right?

That Rapidshare link is the patched ROM. All you need is an emulator.

Thanks again.

The random deaths can be rather annoying. D:

Has anybody tried breaking the automated process & then playing the stage manually? Is it playable?

I've tried it a few times and was able to make some progress. But, it is impossible to complete the stages.
