That particular little knot of houses is indeed very peaceful. There used to be an excellent Chinese cinema nearby, and the Phoenix is cracking independent cinema just North of there. The rent is utterly monstrous for the rooms however (as is common with all of the 3 miles from Carfax stuff). Head North to Summertown, or more West for slightly better deals, and get a bus pass. Are you a student there?

I'm not a student there, no. I live in Solihull, outside of Birmingham. I was going to go to Oxford Brookes university this year, but I failed college (again LOL) so that's on hold for now. Hopefully next year though, and they've introduced a new English language course there to replace the old English language course for whatever reason.

There isn't a great variety of things to do once you've been in Oxford for about a term, and I can't imagine what it must be like to grow up there. I think that's why there is a disproportionate number of quiet opiate abusers and secret alcoholics lurking in the student body (and faculty staff, for that matter).

NHS has a centralised recruitment website, and also advertise extensively in local newspapers. Data clerks do fuck all, seriously, you drink tea or coffee, type data into a database and fuck off home. Your cv just has to say what they want to hear, and that is very little indeed (if you're seriously interested, and see a job going, we can easily write the thing here). Your area will have several NHS sites, and they all need data clerks 'cos government wants data.

Essentially these guys sit around typing casenote numbers into appointment databases and generally answering the telephone for patients cancelling their appointments. Piss easy, the equivalent of 2 days a week, and NHS references are solid for when you want to do something else. Also keep an eye out for Medical Laboratory Assistant jobs in your area, another stroll of a part-time job. Anyway... that's the website, and I'll leave it at that. Hi, Cambridge seemed less isolationist bewteen the colleges in my brief visits there. In Oxford you can slip between the social cracks and nobody would ever notice. I too would like to send a message back to myself to go the job/OU route even though I very much enjoyed pissing about as a student. I really was clueless as to employment options at the time of university, we were still being fed the line that boundless riches awaited us on graduation, especially from places like Oxford, and that college was a laugh-a-minute buddy movie.
