She did want to make a social statement but in the case of Olivia's art it was a complete one time composition in each case. Body modification is about permanent change. A photograph is about a single statement. It's the difference between making a speech and saying the same thing in the same way every day.

I'm confident that Olivia wasn't into body modification because it would limit her ability to use her art as an effective medium.
